Analysis of cone penetration in brittle liquefiable soils

چکیده

The paper presents a comprehensive set of simulations the cone penetration test with pore pressure measurements (CPTu test) in brittle, potentially liquefiable, soils using advanced numerical techniques. large displacements and deformations involved problem are tackled Particle Finite Element Method, especially adapted for analysis coupled geotechnical problems (G-PFEM). A non-local regularization technique is adopted to prevent pathological mesh dependence associated continuum softening materials. Brittle soil behaviour described CASM constitutive model. Undrained CPTu tests simulated range different degree brittleness. Effects permeability, partial drainage roughness also explored. results analyses assessed terms interpretation classification procedures usually applied practice. In addition, advantage taken availability full solution explore aspects response during that not possible when only global observations available. have been able capture essential features provide useful insights into effects brittleness on mechanisms test.

Parameters Analysis of the Covering Soil of Tunnels Constructed In Liquefiable Soils

Earthquake and its catastrophic failures has been one of the disturbance worry of Civil Engineers. In geotechnical science, liquefaction is one of the most important phenomenons induced by earthquake. A change in pore water pressure follows a change in effective stress, and in a critical state in which pore water pressure equals the total stress in soil particles, soil strength is suddenly lost...

Using Miniature Cone Penetration Test (Mini-CPT) to determine engineering properties of sandy soils

In-situ testing techniques have proven to be successful in improving the speed and reliability of geotechnical investigations. One of the most common in-situ methods in engineering geology and site investigation is Cone Penetration Test (CPT), which is mainly used for characterization of soils, as it is a robust, simple, fast, reliable and economic test that can provide continuous soundings of ...

buckling behavior of piles in liquefiable soils

in the realistic manner, piles are similar to the slender columns that soil around them acts as a lateral support. the piles situated in the liquefiable soil layers, loss their lateral supports due to the liquefaction resulted from the seismic ground motion. in this case, pile has the potency of axial instability similar to the unsupported columns. this instability can lead to the lateral buckl...
